There are a lot of moving parts behind thinkPARALLAX, and we want you to meet the people who make it happen every day. Once a month, we’ll be profiling someone from the thinkPARALLAX team to give you insight into who we are and what drives us as individuals. And hey, maybe we can be friends, too!
Name: Maddie Lochte
Hometown: Marin County, CA
Style: Graphic Designer
Fun Fact: I’m an expert hairstylist — in Photoshop, at least 😉
What sparks your creativity?
Seeing designs and aesthetics that get me excited makes me want to create things that are equally beautiful. Whether it’s a layout, logo, ad, photo or even an architectural space, reacting to something someone else has created puts my own creativity into motion.
The thinkPARALLAX effect is about seeing things from different angles. What perspective do you bring to tPX?
While the majority of the designers at thinkPARALLAX were educated at the same university, we all have such different personalities, interests, and aesthetic preferences, which make us perfectly suited for a wide range of projects. I find that I’m not excessively right brain-inclined, landing somewhere between a rational and a creative thinker, a balance that lends itself to very minimal, straightforward designs. My analytical approach to solving creative problems is a great complement to, and is greatly complemented by, the more extravagant or complex solutions our other designers may come up with.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is the people I work with. We have such a fun, tight-knit community here, which is good since we all work so closely with one another — literally. I don’t think I could spend nine hours a day in a 1000 sq ft. room with 11 people I didn’t have a great fondness for. It’s pretty remarkable that we can spend so much time around one another throughout the workweek, and still have such a good time when we get together outside of the office. I wouldn’t trade my coworkers for anyone!
What are you up to out of the office?
I’m a bicycle cruiser, Pilates participator, gym-goer, camping enthusiast, and general adventurer. I like to explore new places, see new films, experiment with new recipes, and search out new music.
What cause are you most interested in?
I’m extremely interested in any cause involving animals. I’ve been a supporter of our feathered and furry friends for many years, aiding conservation efforts both financially and physically.
